Sculpting
I have always loved films such as ‘The Dark Crystal’, ‘Labyrinth’ and ‘Willow’. Watching these films as a child, seeing the imaginative designs and bizarre character I believe has helped my own creativity considerably.
I first started to sculpt in clay back in December 2012. Christmas was approaching and I wanted to make gifts rather than buying them some random items they didn't really want. I decided that instead I would make my friends characters from their favourite films & TV shows, and so my clay sculpting fascination was born!
Bat demon
ACE is one of the largest HR and people development conferences and exhibition in the UK, run by CIPD. The brief for this project was to develop a creative the had the feel of the future to it, whilst also incorporating technology and networking/connection. The creative had to be adaptable to be used on various formats from postcards, web banners and magazine adverts. Here are few pieces from the project.

Lady of the forest
Created from my own imagination, this sculpture represents a merging of nature with mankind. Using natural elements like leaves and branches and blending them into the human form. Creating the sense that she was born of the forest.

Treebeard (Lord Of The Rings)
Inspired by Lord of The Rings - Treebeard, with his bark like skin turned out to be the perfect character to sculpt. The character had some great defining features with an overall rough style. This project was a lot of fun and a gift to a close friend.

Bookworm
Created for a friend who was obsessed with reading.

Skeksis (The Dark Crystal)
From the classic Jim Henson, fantasy film 'The Dark Crystal', comes this evil Skeksis character. Not the prettiest of creatures to be fair, but an icon of it's time. This sculpture provided me with a great opportunity to try my hand at simulating cloth. I needed to get across the look and feel of heavy and worn clothing, hence the tattered areas around the arms and base.

Gizmo (Gremlins)
From the classic Jim Henson, fantasy film 'The Dark Crystal', comes this evil Skeksis character. Not the prettiest of creatures to be fair, but an icon of it's time. This sculpture provided me with a great opportunity to try my hand at simulating cloth. I needed to get across the look and feel of heavy and worn clothing, hence the tattered areas around the arms and base.

Totoro (My Neighbour Totoro)
This model of Totoro was a fairly simple accomplishment, the most difficult part being the umbrella and keeping it in position whilst the clay set.

Finding Nemo
This was a commission piece for an old boss of mine. When she found out about my attempts at sculpting Christmas presents she asked if I would be able to come up with something 'Finding Nemo' related for her grandson, who is obsessed with Nemo. This is what I came up with for her and she was very happy with the final result.

Abe (Abe's Oddysee)
Abe was the first model I ever made. I've always loved the classic PS1 game Abe's Oddysee and couldn't wait to make this cheeky Mudokon for a friends Christmas present. I started with the head, I wanted to see whether I could really put what I was seeing in my head and on the screen into the clay before me.
